Selena Gomez delivered a sharp response to anyone criticizing the hardships and struggles in her life.
At the Women in Film event, Selena directly addressed the audience’s criticism. The actress expressed her frustration with being accused of “playing the victim.”
“I truly believe that being vulnerable and telling people that you need help is a form of strength. There’s no shame in that,” the star, born in 1992, shared. “So yes, I’ve shared that I can’t have children, and I’ve shared that I have bipolar disorder. Go to hell because this is my life, and this is who I am.”
Speaking further about why she chooses to share her challenges and struggles, the former Disney star said it’s her way of showing support to women. “I don’t have everything, but I am who I am, and that’s all I can be. Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re not a good person. Ignore anyone who says you’re playing the victim,” Selena continued.
Over the years, the Lose You to Love Me singer has openly discussed her health and mental struggles. In 2013, the actress was diagnosed with lupus, and in 2017, she underwent a kidney transplant. A year later, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Most recently, Selena Gomez revealed she was heartbroken to discover she could not have children.
