With his piercings, long dreadlocked black hair and extensive body art, there was no mistaking Lil’ Wayne as he hit the beach in Miami today.

The 28-year-old rapper showed off his tattooed torso while holding hands with a mystery lady in the Florida sunshine.

Following his eight months in jail last year, the award winning star is clearly enjoying his freedom.

He sported a backwards red baseball cap, sunglasses and baggy green shorts, which barely covered his white underwear.

The star looked happy and relaxed as he and his lady sheltered under an parasol from the Florida sun.

Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter Jr, served eight months last year in the notorious Rikers Island jail complex in New York on charges related to a loaded gun being found on his tour bus back in 2007.

The star, who won a best rap album Grammy with Tha Carter III, kept his career going while in prison.

He released his latest album I Am Not a Human Being, which hit number one in the Billboard charts,  while he was in solitary confinement in September.

The prolific rapper, who was released in November, also featured on a string of hits by other artists, including Drake and Eminem, while he was incarcerated.

He started a yearlong sentence in March but got time off for good behaviour.

Wayne’s next album Tha Carter IV will be released on June 11.
